who we are

STATEMENT OF IDENTITY

As Community Chapel of the Nazarene we are seeking to become fully devoted followers of Jesus, sent into the world to participate in His mission, wherever we find ourselves.

The Community Chapel Church of the Nazarene began in a spirit of sacrifice and service in the early 1940s and continues to seek to be a place for travelers on The Journey of life to discover and be equipped to live out a relationship with Jesus Christ in the world today. As part of the church of the Nazarene, we join with individuals and churches in 156 different countries seeking to declare the Good News of the life that is life found in Jesus Christ.

In many ways our church is like a family. And here you will discover ministries and opportunities for all ages and stages of life. Our vision and desire is to be a faithful witness in Nashua and the surrounding region as to what it means to follow Jesus and reveal His Kingdom and love to the world around us. As a result, we seek to partner with others in our area and around the globe in making our world a better place to live, while gathering in community to worship, grow and serve together.

This has been true from earliest days of a storefront church to our current facility at 5 St. Laurent Street in Nashua, NH. As our mission statement says, "We exist to make fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ in the 21st century." What was started those decades ago continues today in fresh, new ways.

what we believe

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe that the life God wants for us is ALL ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS - relationships with God, relationships with our "neighbors" (those people around us); and even each individual's relationship with herself or himself. Ultimately, our beliefs impact the way we live in this world and the people we encounter as we live! Because of that...

IN ESSENTIAL BELIEFS ~ WE HAVE UNITY

There is one Body and one Spirit... there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all..." Ephesians 4:4-6

IN NON-ESSENTIAL BELIEFS ~ WE HAVE LIBERTY

"Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgement on disputable matters... who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls... So then each of us will give an account of himself to God... so whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God." Romans 14: 1,4,12, 22

IN ALL OUR BELIEFS ~ WE SHOW CHARITY

"...If I hold in my mind not only all human knowledge but also the very secrets of God, and if I have the faith that can move mountains - but have no love, I amount to nothing at all."

1 Corinthians 13:2 (Phillips)

WE BELIEVE

  • In one Creator God, who reveals Himself as Father, Son and Spirit.
  • In the deity and humanity of Jesus Christ.
  • The Bible is the inspired and relevant Word of God.
  • All people have sinned and need God's grace and forgiveness which is free and available to all through Jesus' death on the cross.
  • God draws us to Himself but the decision to respond is ours.
  • An individual must repent and trust Christ to receive forgiveness and eternal life.
  • As Christians we need to offer our whole lives to God.
  • When we give ourselves to God in this way, His spirit can fully mold us into Christ-likeness; his perfect love is reflected in our attitudes and actions; and God empowers us to live more abundantly. (The biblical word for this is sanctification).
  • The church is the Body of Christ carrying on His purposes in the world.
  • We believe in the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper.
  • God can bring healing and we pray for healing. We also believe He uses medical science.
  • Jesus Christ is coming again and will make all things right in the final judgment.

Our local college is Eastern Nazarene College. If you have a high school student interested in looking at colleges, we encourage you to click HERE to learn more about ENC.

mission statement

"We exist to share God's hope

wherever we find ourselves."

Our mission reflects the simple call from Jesus to: "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit -- and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. and surely I am with you always to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20

As we grow in what this means for us, we invite you to come and be a part of that growth. Explore the activities and opportunities for fellowship that are listed. And then come and be a part of what God is doing in and among us.
